TWO WOLF FOUNDATION WORKS ALONGSIDE USFS IN CALIFORNIA
Warrior Stewardship Team 006 conducted a 3,000+ mile expedition from Montana to California, camping and serving stewardship objectives in 7 national forests over 14 days.
The original mission for WST.006 was a USFS Ranger cabin roof rehabilitation project in the Monache Meadow area of the Inyo National Forest. Due to wildfire outbreaks in vicinity of the project site, the team was forced to adapt the plan.
Team 006 spent several days providing support in the development of several wilderness rehabilitation areas assisting the USFS with implementation of the approved travel management plan for the Mammoth Lakes area of the forest.
Starting the adventure in Missoula, MT, the team would travel west across Montana, Idaho, and Washington before traversing the coastline down Oregon and northern California enroute to their project.
Traveling during wildfire season presented daily challenges for the team. Their first planned camp in Washington required making changes to the route on the fly as a large fire burned in the Wenatchee National Forest near Yakima, WA.
